Hello I am Laura, a professional counsellor based in Salisbury, experienced in working with clients 'in the room', as well as over the telephone and online. I have over twenty years experience of working in private, public and charitable organisations that support vulnerable young people and adults with diverse and complex needs. The confidential therapy I provide is informed by Transactional Analysis, a modality proven effective with working with a wide range of issues that provides easy to understand ways to explore and identify a plan for change. I also incorporate other therapeutic models in my practice to address your specific needs.
I work with a full range of emotional issues, difficult life events, impact of family relationships and unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. I also work with the spectrum of gender and sexual expressions of the LGBTQIA+ community and recognise the importance of culture, race and identity in how we meet the world. As an inclusive therapist I actively provide understanding and a place to be understood. My goal is to work with people who wish to improve and enrich their relationships, with themselves, others and the world.
I offer regular weekly sessions, providing space for reflection. I see my purpose as helping people uncover what has limited them in the past and supporting them to reconnect with positive aspects of themselves, so they can engage with new ways of wellbeing. I encourage and promote the importance of self-care, self-compassion and self-soothing as necessary components for therapeutic change.
My aim is to encourage curiosity of self.
I hold full Professional Liability Insurance and a registered member of the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a MBACP, I adhere to its Ethical Framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and Professional Conduct and Procedures.
