I am a professional counsellor based in Salisbury, experienced in working with clients in person as well as over the telephone and online. The confidential therapy I provide is informed by Transactional Analysis, a modality proven effective working with a wide range of issues. It provides easy to understand ways to explore and identify a plan for change. Nonetheless, I can incorporate other techniques into the therapeutic process to suit your specific needs.
To reduce the impact of depression and anxiety I encourage and promote the importance of self-care, self-compassion and self-soothing as necessary components for therapeutic change. I believe that part of a therapists role is to show you how to gain the most from therapy, to encourage your curiosity of self and engagement with the process.
I work with a full spectrum of emotional issues, difficult life events and unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. I have a special interest in working with people who are looking to improve and enrich their relationships: with themselves, others and the world.
I invite you to sit down in a relaxed and informal way and we have a conversation. I help you to tell me what’s concerning you and I listen very carefully without making judgements or offering any easy answers.
My aim is to help you to make better sense of your experiences, together with your thoughts and emotions, and explore options. I help you to uncover meanings and recognise patterns, providing you with greater self-awareness. I help you to think more kindly of yourself and gain a clearer understanding of your relationships with others. Working towards your therapeutic goals for positive and meaningful change.
Prior to working privately, I practiced at a charity that provided low cost counselling to adults. Furthermore, I have extensive experience of working in private, public and charitable organisations that support vulnerable young people and adults with diverse and complex needs.
I have an enhanced DBS Certificate for adult and children and hold full Professional Liability Insurance. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a MBACP, I adhere to its Ethical Framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and Professional Conduct and Procedures.
